The days left behind as she had suddenly felt the need to move on. It was amazing how much her mindset really could focus her mind to do exactly what she wanted to do. Nights spent at the tavern catching up with Brennan, seeing a few new faces, and even remembering her desire to fight, though she really was far too nice that night against Keilios.
A sign of contentment fell from her lips though as she stood shivering near the fire in her backyard. Coat pulled tight around her small form, she let her dark orbs just watch the dance of the flames, a hint of a smile pressed to her lips as she heard the steps coming up behind her. The pale blue of a mug swept into her gaze, hands coming up to grab at it quickly, blinking as it was pulled away before gently being brought down to her hands.
Spoken words were rarely used unless needed on nights light tonight. The crackle of the fire and melody of the night animals were too calming to break it with human speech. The mug had been hot when her fingers graved it, the pull away a warning of the heat, but still, she held it between both of her hands to let the warmth spread through her form.
Minutes passed as the pair stood there next to the fire, Idael lying on the small porch just outside the back door. A pause in the silence though as the other’s deep voice spoke calmly to her, “It has been nearly nine months since you have called me to talk. A change to be sure. What is on your mind?”
Viera’s eyes never left the fire. Her feet shuffled a little in the fall leaves about her feet. Had it really been so long since she had called him? Maybe she was so used to him just being there whenever she felt the need for him, that she never had ever bothered calling. The male waited, he had all the patience in the world to give to her. But finally, she pulled her gaze from the flames and looked up at him, her own dark eyes met with his, the moonlight glistening there.
“I have decided to forgive him,” her lips speaking the words, almost as if seeking his approval in this. She caught herself though as she said it, and so followed with a firm nod of her head, the mug coming to her lips as she took a sip of the hot liquid. “I have forgiven him.”
He could only stare at her as she said it. He knew this would come eventually, but the timing was a bit unexpected. Even so, it meant she was really growing up. Everyone had their heart broken a time or two in life, and it was one of the rights of passage almost to pick yourself up from it and to move on. Raising his own mug to his lips, the light flickered off the silver chain about his neck and the ring on his finger. Still retaining his silence for the time to let it sink in what she had just said.
“How have you chosen to move on? You should not forget such a decision or such memories.” He was looking down at her, her eyes still glued to the dancing before her, the mesmerizing dance that one could easily be lost within. But then as she turned and looked up at him, obviously warmer now as she had stopped shivering.
“I am getting a few new tattoos,” there was a smile on her lips as she told him this. “I have given back Nature’s Skin and will be having a tattoo imprinted to take upon myself the War Spirit called Blood Warrior’s Boon.” Another sip of her drink taken as she paused, waiting a few moments more to explain. “It was Cobra’s, back when he was with the guild. I think he might like that I have taken it on.” Tashi just nodded, waiting for her to go on as she had a few. “The second will be between my shoulder blades, below my neck. It will be a decorative style of his name, this one enchanted for healing. To recall only the good and positive things that one goes through and to push away the negatives.”
His eyes blinked as this, not entirely sure how much he liked that one. “The first will be where?”
“Lower middle back.”
Another nod of his head as he drained the rest of his hot drink.
“May I ask what brought this on?” Dark eyes of his own looking down at her as a hand reached down to take her mug back. The cup placed in his palm, she let her hands rest on it as it sat there, head turning to look up at him with a genuine smile.
“When my time comes, Forget the wrong that I’ve done, Help me leave behind some, Reasons to be missed. And don’t resent me, And when you’re feeling empty, Keep me in your memory. Leave out all the rest.” There was a melody within the words as she spoke them. “A simple song suddenly stuck me that maybe I was not seeing the memories as I should. That it was time to forgive, remember the good, and to appreciate all the good times I did have.”
A thin smile came to his lips as he stayed there just listening, contemplating the words she had spoken and the meaning they had given to her.
“I am happy for you, Lavi, very happy.” Her eyes stared up at him, still smiling. It was something she had needed to hear, from someone like him that had always been there and had never judged.
“Thank you, Tashi.”
